We’re always looking for canfitpro qualified Fitness Instructor Specialists to join our fitness team. Learn more about the canfitpro certification we offer throughout the year. You must be 16 years or over to register.

Fitness Instructor Specialist Certification

You would be learning how to lead groups in various formats of cardiovascular conditioning, muscle strength and endurance training, stretching and relaxation, or a cool-down safely. You’d learn about different types of music, understand how to use music in a group setting, keep up with the latest fitness trends and become a leader for healthy living.

Course topics

Aspects of fitness, wellness and basic training principles
Fitness theory: skeletal, muscular, neurological, cardiovascular and pulmonary systems
Kinesiology/anatomy in action and bioenergetics
Components of a fitness class from the warm-up to the cool-down
Musicality: phrasing, cueing and appropriate music selection
Leadership and motivation skills
Injury recognition and prevention

Upcoming courses

The next course will be offered in winter 2025 and will run the following days and times:

January 11, 12 and 18, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and January 19, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Written exam: Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 9:00 a.m to 11:30 a.m.

(please note that written and practical exam dates are flexible and may be booked on another day if needed.)

Course fees include a hard copy course manual, in-class training, theory and practical exams and a canfitpro Professional Membership.

Rates

Receive a special rate of 25% off if you register before October 31, 2024. Two education packages are available.

Standard Membership: Special rate of $675 including taxes, until October 31, 2024, or $900 after October 31, 2024. This package includes a Professional Membership, a hardcopy course manual, in-class course, theory exam, and practical exam.

Premium Membership: Special rate of $975 including taxes, until October 31, 2024, or $1300 after October 31, 2024: this package includes a Professional Membership, hardcopy course manual, in-class course, theory exam, practical exam, two tutoring sessions with a certified Pro Trainer, CPR A and AED (Adult), theory exam rewrite if needed, and an opportunity to take the practical exam if needed another time.
